Description
Guatemala Huehuetenango Single Origin coffee has returned to our menu as a certified organic medium roast.
Grown in the striking Huehuetenango highlands of north-western Guatemala near the Mexican border, this region is known for varied microclimates and high-altitude coffee growing up to around 2,000 metres above sea level conditions that help produce bright, sweet coffees with distinctive fruit character.
Huehuetenango is one of Guatemala’s non-volcanic coffee regions and is often associated with limestone-rich soils. Warm, dry winds from Mexico’s Tehuantepec plain help protect crops from frost, allowing coffee to be cultivated at very high elevations.
The region is closely tied to the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes, the highest non-volcanic mountain range in Central America.
At Quest, we roast this bean to a medium profile, perfect for enjoying as black coffee or with milk. In the cup, it’s sweet and juicy with tasting notes of cherries, red wine, and milk chocolate, with a subtle floral aroma.
Floral on the nose, this coffee brings a clean, vibrant lift to your morning coffee ritual.
Brewing suggestions
- Espresso: juicy, wine-like fruit up front; chocolate through milk
- Filter / Pour-over: extra floral lift and clearer cherry sweetness
- Plunger: rounder body, milk-choc finish
Processing: Washed
Washed (wet) process coffees have the fruit layers removed before drying (typically depulping, fermentation, then washing), which is commonly associated with a cleaner, brighter cup profile that highlights the bean’s inherent flavours.
