Banksy Bar & Kitchen is a modern cafe and espresso bar located in Broadbeach, Gold Coast, Queensland. We offer sit down and inventive breakfast and lunch options, both dine-in and takeaway, using organic coffee beans roasted by Quest Coffee Roasters. As we expand our services to include light dinners and cocktail service on Fridays and Saturdays, we are seeking a Sous Chef to join our team.
We are looking for an experienced Barista / Day Manager to join our team!
Position: Sous Chef
Hours: 32-38 hours/week (Casual with consideration for full time role)
Schedule: Includes Fridays and Saturdays, midday to 9pm +/- 1 hour each day.
Rate: $35.00 to $37.00 / hr + Super, Bonuses, and Penalty Rates

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and cook a variety of sweet and savoury dishes.
- Provide assembly, handling, and heating instructions to the cafe team.
- Monitor and maintain inventory, place orders to ensure adequate supply while minimising waste.
- Develop a dinner menu in collaboration with the Head Chef.
- Ensure attention to detail and presentation in all dishes.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting any malfunctions.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following food health & safety standards, organisational standards and sanitation regulations.
ABOUT YOU
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 3 or more years of recent experience as a Cook or Chef
- Strong listening and verbal communication skills
- A strong understanding of health and safety
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Australian citizen or resident with permanent working rights in Australia
- Availability to work at least Fridays and Saturdays until 10pm (if required)
- Loves high quality food
- Own transport to and from work
NICE TO HAVE
- Professional cookery, chef, or food science certification or degree.
- Baking experience.
